I loved the Botanical Gardens in Atlanta. I went with my grandma, uncle, and cousin, and it was just fantastic.
There was a whole section in the greenhouse devoted to orchids of all varieties. There were also birds flying around, completely fearless, and would walk right up next to you. (click to enlarge pictures).

There was this train exhibit called “Locomotion in the Garden” that was like a little world with a bunch of different trains and buildings and tracks made from branches. There was a waterfall, and a little island. Amazing.

Sorry, the quality of these isn’t great.
I promise I’ll write soon.
I promise.
Atlanta was GREAT. Pictures and such things soon.
This article is about Internet connections being set up in rural areas to help connect remote villages to the rest of the world.
I think that this is amazing. I know that the India is trying to get more technological access to the poorer population. This article talks about how businesses are discovering the value of catering to this large population, while at the same time doing a great service to the people who would normally not have access to this kind of thing.
Why is an internet connection so important? Especially when so many basic needs are not being met? If you read the articles, there is an interesting phenomenon happening. In the Brazil case, the computer literate people in the community teach those who are illiterate how to use the computer. The villagers download lesson plans, and are able to trade products more easily. This one computer that they all share allows them to educate themselves.
In India, the majority of users are women! Imagine the effect that this has on these villages.
I’ve put some quotations from the Baha’i Writings about education below. Comments on this subject, anyone? Concerns, thoughts? I’d like to hear what people think.

Why do I sometimes get the feeling that I am alone?
Alone in my love for the strange, the green,
the disliked members of the family of vegetables!
Oh, broccoli, okra, and brussel sprouts,
fried, baked, boiled or raw,
how very misunderstood you are!
————————————————————–
It is true, you know. Some of you have seen me sit contentedly with a bowl full of brussel sprouts drenched in lemon, salt, and butter, and be completely happy with this as my dinner. mmm.
My long bloggy silence has been the result of after-finals stress relief, planning a conference (coming up on Friday, eek!), and hanging out with wonderful friends. This summer promises to be very busy with Baha’i conferences, weddings, and work (note how work is listed last, haha). But seriously, I have a feeling it will be great.
Bed, perhaps? Yes.
A very, very old shoe!
Part of the “fun” of growing up means that you can’t go outside when the weather is PERFECT. The most exposure I’ve had to the sun today is grabbing lunch to go across the street downtown in the Loop. Everyone was in their business suits, the men with rolled up sleeves and sunglasses, the women remarkably more casual than in the winter months.
I love downtown Chicago.
EDIT: It is the next day, and it is 50 degrees and windy today, instead of a beautiful 80 degrees. *sigh*
Can’t put the words in to sentences that make sense
lethargy consumes me…wait,
it consumes you, and I’m just here for the beautiful view.
There is a disconnect between our hearts and intellects
under-educated because self-education is just too hard.

I speak to you and you and you and you…
I love you but I’m frustrated.
No, that is not the right word.
I am baffled, disheartened, distressed, and vexed…
and also:
encouraged, heartened, triumphant, and uplifted.
A strange combination to have sitting inside my head.
Why are such things as this always written in the middle of the night?
Go here for Andrew’s story of what happens when a deer hits a car…
Took two finals in the last 24 hours, I’m so tired! One more tomorrow, and I’m DONE. whee! Summer can’t come soon enough (although the weather is currently hovering at 43 degrees F).
Sholeh + Neda + Dubious Estate Sale = Hilarity. We had way too much fun.
I really couldn’t even figure out what some of these knicknacks were!

There was a random head sitting on a table…and it thoroughly freaked out both of us.
