I studied on the back porch with the setting sun warming my feet and a soda near at hand.
The sounds of the city, construction, cars, and chaos do not detract from the utter peace and enjoyment of such an activity.
If you’d ever like to study with me, you know where to find me. At least until it gets too cold outside, in which case I’ll be at the coffee shop down the street.

Chalk up another similarity. I had the most beautiful side porch all to myself when I rented an apartment in Knoxville during school. The Victorian house, built in the 1880s, had been sectioned off into units around 1913. For two years I sat out there on the lazy boy, reading, napping, watching the world go by while roses climbed up the porch rails each season. Now my back porch is screened in from the mosquitos and surrounded by palm trees and tropical plants. And you’re just as welcome to come study here. 🙂
