Shocking, I know, but it appears as though those popular <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.time.com\/time\/health\/article\/0,8599,1650352,00.html\">&#8220;Baby Einstein&#8221; videos and other similar\u00c2\u00a0educational shows actually do more harm than good<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 When I was working as an intern at Target in 2004, those videos were flying off the shelves.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8230;the only thing that baby videos are doing is producing a generation of overstimulated kids.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 <\/em>I can see the drug companies doing little dances in their chairs as they count the profits from <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ritalin\">Ritalin<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, <em><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/news.nationalgeographic.com\/news\/2007\/08\/070801-left-gene.html\">&#8220;The gene most closely linked to left-handedness has been found&#8230;&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0<\/a> <\/em>In even better news, this gene <em>&#8220;is also associated with a slight increase in developing certain mental illnesses such as schizophrenia.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m left handed.\u00c2\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>And finally, I was born on the Mississippi River,\u00c2\u00a0just\u00c2\u00a0a few blocks from where the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;geocode=&amp;q=500+SE+Harvard+St,+Minneapolis,+Hennepin,+Minnesota+55455,+United+States&amp;sll=44.97843,-93.237062&amp;sspn=0.020795,0.039911&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;cd=2&amp;ll=44.976275,-93.238521&amp;spn=0.010398,0.019956&amp;t=h&amp;z=16&amp;iwloc=addr&amp;om=1\">35W bridge collapsed<\/a> in Minnesota.<!--- deckend ---><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So apparently using your television as a babysitter\/parental replacement\u00c2\u00a0is not actually a good idea!
