well said, Sholeh, I agree- people are alot more comfortable talking about war than abuse. the private nature of abuse makes each case isolated unto itself, whereas wars are massive scale; usually impossible to ignore. still, on the personal level, I think the effects of each are very similar.

interesting that as I depart LouHelen, there is a BNASAA (Baha'i Network on Addiction, Sexuality, Abuse and AIDS) Conference going on... a very important group that i think does not get the recognition or esteem it deserves.

The last line reads like a horrible, tragic episode of Sesame Street.

I don't mind at all.

All of the pain comes from the same source...people doing harm to those who have done them none. There is no difference..except perhaps that war is spoken of and abuse is often hidden.

agh!

you're taking on some topics.

it conveys the message well, i think.

yeh, it does, because i'm not in a hurry to read it too much. noble poem though.

it did remind me of this song too, which is more about "war" than "abuse," but then tell me the difference if there is one... (hope you don't mind me posting it)

****************************
Mothers of the Disappeared

Midnight, our sons and daughters
Were cut down and taken from us
Hear their heartbeat
We hear their heartbeat

In the wind we hear their laughter
In the rain we see their tears
Hear their heartbeat
We hear their heartbeat

Night hangs like a prisoner
Stretched over black and blue
Hear their heartbeat
We hear their heartbeat

In the trees our sons stand naked
Through the walls our daughters cry
See their tears in the rainfall
